ASEAN’s top-funded insurtech, Sunday, adds heavyweight talent to its team as the region takes the spotlight for growth

May 2022, Thailand – Sunday Ins Holdings Pte. Ltd. (“Sunday”), the full stack insurtech group, today announced Ryuji Wolf as Chief Financial Officer and a member of its executive leadership team as it continues rapid innovation-in-action and drives accelerated growth in key insurance verticals of healthcare, electric vehicles and electronics across the region. The group has attracted high interest from global investors since its launch in 2017, as insurance is now at the core of the next wave of fintech disruption.

“Sunday continues to differentiate itself not only through its innovative approach and solutions, but also through its philosophy of making insurance available and affordable to everyone. I am thrilled to join Cindy and the team that is reshaping the industry landscape and setting the gold standard as a true regional insurtech champion.”

Ryuji R. Wolf, CFO of Sunday

Ryuji spent over ten years as a Technology, Media and Telecommunications investment banker, and worked in international markets such as New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo. Ryuji joins from J.P. Morgan, where he served as Executive Director and led Consumer Internet & Media investment banking for the Asia Pacific region. He has led over $90 billion successful M&A and capital raise executions, and has advised executive management teams from emerging growth to Global Fortune 500 companies over the course of his global corporate finance career.

“Sunday’s vision is to be a leading digital-native insurer in ASEAN that makes insurance more friendly. As the global landscape and consumer behavior continue to shift, we want to build an insurer that adapts more rapidly using data and technology. While insurance is abstract since it’s all about risk and therefore limitless in opportunities, it is in the end also about trust and service no matter what generation we belong to. Being a full stack insurtech gives us product ownership and the ability to deploy and see our ideas in action. Ryuji and Sunday share such vision, and we could not be more excited to build a great company in collaboration with him.”

Cindy Kua, CEO and Co-founder of Sunday

Sunday continues to be the insurtech partner of choice for many ecosystems and industry players, from leading telcos to new-economy companies. These senior appointments follow the full stack insurtech’s most recent $45 million series B raise last year with participation from new heavyweight investors such as Tencent, Vertex Growth, SCB 10X, Granite Oak and Aflac Ventures. Since then, a string of senior executives across the region spanning from PWC, Cigna, and Avrist have joined Sunday to assume key positions in driving the group’s rapid growth notably in Thailand and Indonesia, in unique collaboration with its data, technology and insurance expert teams.
